Powering the Reverb G2 headset from the USB-C port?
Hello all!
So we have developed 80% of our Omnicept application and the eye tracking works incredibly well. We have also bought a HP VR Backpack G2 for the purpose of having an untethered system. Now the problem is we cannot get the headset to power from the USB-C port alone. It only works when connected to mains using the provided adaptor.
Can someone provide us with a workaround? There has got to be a way around this. Whether this is a software functionality or we need to make/buy a cable to use the "Power connector for headset" on the Backpack G2 computer.
Kind regards

To power the Reverb G2 headsets (Omnicept included) via USB only, there is a 1-meter dual USB cable. This is used with the G2 backpack you have.

Thanks for your reply Domingo,
Looking at this, I think it might be a problem for us as the 1 meter of length might not be long enough.
Is there any other way? Maybe to modify the existing long cable?
Kind regards

Sorry, I must not be picturing your use case right. The Z G2 backpack is not on the user's back during the VR headset experience? 1m length was determined by the use case of an untethered backpack with the 1m cable to the headset so there is little cable weight on the headset/user's head - also the signal integrity for power to the headset is retained with the shorter cable.

It is a bit specific. I can't really go into details, but the headset is attached to another handheld piece of equipment that the user must be able to lay down on the ground while wearing the backpack computer.
We might be able to work with this to a degree but ideally we would have a bit longer cable so I am looking for options.
Kind regards
